We have our actual travel dates set! Our agency was able to make consulate appointments for our group. We will be going to China 2/21 - 3/5 with a group of other adoptive families (aka "travel group"). Adoption agencies group as many families together as they can when they travel. This makes the trip more affordable for everyone. We priced out going earlier but with only one other family and it added $3,500 to our cost. As much as we would have liked to have Sophie home a month earlier, we just couldn't justify the extra cost. After our agency sets up our in-country travel plans and books the flights for the other families in our group they will let us know the details. Then we will book our flight to China ourselves. We were blessed incredibly by some wonderful friends who gave us their frequent flyer miles. Its such a huge blessing. I don't think we could ever express in words just how greatful we are. We don't know the details yet but we believe we will be spending 5 business days in the province where Sophie's orphanage is. Then we will travel to Guanzhou where all adoptions go through for another 5 business days. During this time we will be site seeing. I believe we will get Sophie relatively soon after we arrive in China. I think its only a couple of days before we go to her province and they bring her to us.

I wish we could. But it looks like the flight we want to book will go straight to Tokyo from Minneapolis and it will be the same on the way back. I have a feeling we are going to be bushed anyway after a 15 hour flight and an 8 hour time difference. Hopefully we will be able to come out and visit you sometime soon.
